Is there a thread all about renting points?
We are looking into possibly renting some points off of DVC owners for a stay maybe next year if this all settles down. Is there a thread somewhere all about how it works from the perspective of the rentee and what you might have to think about that differs from a standard booking?
If there is, I be very grateful if someone could direct me to it, and if there isn’t, can we start one?! 😁

You can post a request on the Rent Forum or you can rent from one of the recognised sellers - a lot of the DVC retailers seem to be doing this now, first I would go onto Daves DVC request & use the calculator to figure out what you need.
If you rent from an owner on here then you are dealing Direct with them, each will have a different way of doing things but essentially both parties are looking to protect themselves- once an owner has made the booking then effectively those point are restricted in as much if you need to cancel then the owner may not be able to do anything with them IYKWIM The booking is made in your name but any requests need to be made through the owner, for instance if you want to add dining worth noting that in this instance you pay in full & at the $ rate. You still get free resort & parks parking but no other DVC discounts- only bluecard holders get these. Finally it is a good saving versus direct but it isn't going to equal Free Dining for instance. Same as above, as a renter we could be stuck if you cancelled although I would always be willing to change dates and names, you can purchase ppp that is an insurance that protect your money but at approximately $3 a point can be a little steep, just ask if you can have some sort of contract 😊
