Is it safe to book?
I want to put a deposit down for a holiday.
We lost out on a cruise this year and the same cruise has come up again in summer holidays 2022 I’m just a little worried about the insurance side of things. We have annual insurance now that runs out in January so it won’t cover 2022 as it’s with the company hubby works for and they are not using the same insurance company next year. Also unsure about school holidays. This is the councils holiday for 21/22 I’m going to guess they will go back on 5th of September. Could I be wrong. Not sure I want them to miss the first day of that wasn’t the case. |

Ok can't help with school holidays but Insurance wise, it's all down to the small print: Ours for instance covers us for illness whilst on holiday, including Covid, but not if we were to get it before & had to cancel. More than a few now have Pandemic clause which generally means that you are not covered for cancellation due to one- even the fall back of booking on a CC, some have added that clause.

My advice and it's only my advice nothing official is at present do not pay out any money you cannot afford to lose.
You will be booking while no travel is allowed, you are booking when you have no effective insurance for that time. Insurance may well change before you have reached a time you are insured. I have holidays booked but am aware I may lose the small amount I have paid, I am content with that, only you know how you feel. |

Yes that’s what I thought. It’s onlu a deposit of £150 and then balance isn’t due till April 22 so you’d think the world would have either got a vaccine or accepted it as a normal by then I would assume.
The other holiday I’ve got was booked on last years annul insurance prior to covid so we should be covered I think for that one but still no final balance to pay for a while as that’s July 21. It’s just a good price for school holidays what’s making me wonder if it’s worth it. |

The main reason I'm holding off booking anything for 2022 at the moment is the fact there are no offers on, no one knows what is going to happen, obviously prices may rocket so it could be a smart move booking now, but I am holding out that when we get clarity next year (she says!) and companies want us booking with them that we might start to see more deals and variety etc (I want to see dining plans back for Disney!). So that's the main reason I'm holding off. In terms of school holidays, we're going back really early 2021 (1/9/2021) just as a warning, but that's quite unusual, we are finishing earlier in the July.

We've booked direct with Disney for early July 2021, £250 deposit which if deferrable to end December 2022. I believe we can defer right up to week before departure and same scenario for VA flights, Disney also includes an offer of 4 free nights at CBR, makes up a bit for no free DDP.
We've stayed at very end of august. its a great time to go. Edited at 11:27 AM. |

This is for a p&o cruise. It came out yesterday for pew register and it’s the exact same cruise that we should have gone on this year but it would be for a balcony cabin rather than a window one and it’s £300 less plus this will be in august rather than April. Which is what is really swaying me.
For the school holidays we would be getting back on 3rd September 2022 and according to the council they are definitely off till 31st august but they won’t go back for the Thursday Friday would they |

Not unusual for schools to go back on a Thursday after the summer break. Ours often do and did this year.
You need to find the roster for the following year as well to see when that says they will have started. |

I can see why you are swayed, if I could book my identical holiday we should have had this year for 2022 now and at a similar price, I would. I personally wouldn't fret too much if the days slightly overlap, it's not like it's a full week. And with a small deposit, you've got time to work out insurance options to better protect yourself in time for the full balance being paid.
