Very sorry to hear this to, it’s every parents nightmare, at least it is out in the open now, and decisions can be made, go be with your daughter and give her a hug, she needs her family right now . The very same thing has just happened to my dd friend. Thinking of you Del x

Glad she's now safe. Been there, done that and until she alone makes the decision to get rid of him no one will persuade her. Domestic violence affects even the strongest person, in ways that those who aren't involved can't understand or imagine. Hopefully this will be the trigger that helps her decide - it usually takes one incident to tip the balance. I hope for all your sakes, this is it. xx

I hate all forms of violence and violence in the home is horrendous. I remember well my father being violent and those incidents stay with kids forever.

I hope your family get through this safely and without further incidents.

Please go to her if you feel you want to, or if she needs you there. I’m sure this is essential travel to help someone at risk. It upsets me so much to think someone thinks they have a right to inflict physical and mental abuse on another human being, especially when they then say they love them 😢

I hope your daughter finds the strength to leave this relationship as it’s so destructive to stay in abusive relationships but often the victim finds it so hard to leave, due to low self esteem, fear and financial worries. It’s so good your DD has the family for support. Women’s Aid are wonderful at helping and providing both emotional and practical support so it may be worth her contacting them and also CAB to find out her rights and any benefits she may be entitled to.

UPDATE...
She is being incredibly strong and is going to sort out finance etc, they’re not married so no divorce. He is now at his mothers (20 miles away), his mum has been to pick up some of his stuff, she was very apologetic and said that she didn’t think he realised quite how serious it was in that he thought when the police released him he’d be able to go home to my DD, was planning on taking them all a Maccy DS to apologise... really the man has no idea, he blacked her eye when she was holding her 2 year old daughter...
