Hi Mrs Rcch - yes we've got quite a few! I think I've got an index for each of our trip reports in my signature (Shaun - BONZO - and I are married btw, just in case you thought I was jumping in on his thread! )

Is "Bonzo" your hubby's nickname? My grandad was called Bonzo and it made me smile when I saw the name/nickname

Great start! Enjoying the TR so far, my two are 21 and 16, love reading a trippy with older/adult children and yes they both say, "not without me" to Florida!

My username harks back to my time in the scouts where everyone was known by their moniker.

Some people were tagged by their surname like Smudger (Smith), Chalky (White), Spider (Webb), Nobby (Clarke), Spud (Murphy) etc.
Others had parts of their surname changed like Eggy (Egerton), Barmy (Barmford) etc.

Some had names give to those following something they had done like (Chop) McCracken due his fondness of Chop sauce with everything and Fungi (due to his facial hair – face fungus)

As a last resort Christian names would have a “ly” or “ie” put after their Christian or surname like Billy, Freddie, Gouldy and Smithy.

So, that left me as none of the above fitted with my either of my names but one day I was referred to as BONZO due to my surname and the name stuck.

Fast forward a bit to the creation of this forum and I needed to decide on a username. I didn’t want to use something obvious like my Christian name (sorry Stu!) and Disney characters just seemed too obvious so I thought I’d grab BONZO, so there you go.

Yes, thought for a short while that we'd get away with it and go alone and they would go on holiday with thier friends. Instead they decided they wanted to come with the "oldsters" and go abroad with friends as well.

"Las Hurrah" as family holiday coming up to New York as they'll definately be going going thier own from next year onwards - Phew!

That's a great story! My grandad (I am told) was called Bonzo as he was always in the doghouse with my nan and always so attached to his guard dogs (to protect his business in the days before CCTV). It really stuck and he was only ever known as Bonzo, never his Christian name and I always though as a child if was his real name I never hear it and he sadly passed a few years ago so seeing your username made me really smile and remember him fondly
