Enormous moth

Does anyone know what this is? It must be about 2 inches long and About 4 inches wide.

Bit of research - I think it's a privet hawk-moth

I thought moths go to a sort of powder when you handle them, mind you that one is huge.

Me too but it seems to be ok - the cat must have been gentle with it

My eldest daughter hates moths and they always head straight for her if they are about. She looks like a Ninja warrior whilst hysterically trying to swat them away. I shouldn't laugh as that's what I'm like with daddy long legs.

Not sure which one that is..but when we were in France working...there was some really gorgeous big moths...they looked like Atlas moths!
One day we seen a cocoon on the side of a window of a tent...we watched it grow every day waiting for it to open and fly...when a camper decided to knock it down and stand on it because they did not like moths.
It actually made me cry.
What harm can a moth do to you...We will never probably ever get that chance again to see a big moth come out of a cocoon.

I remember when we went to Thailand in 2016, there was a moth (massive) on the balcony, a geko lizard, obviously fancied it for dinner ran up to it and attacked but the moth just flew of with the lizard attached to it. It was great to see.

Man walks into the dentists.
Man: I think I’m a moth
Dentist: Erm, I think you might be looking for the psychiatrist. He’s two doors further along.
Man: Yes I know that.
Dentist: So why did you come in here?
Man: Your light was on!
