Driving tests

Morning

Not sure if anybody has seen it but the DVSA site is down until Wednesday 26 August.
For anyone looking to book a test.

Hope this helps.

Such a shame for those who have been ready to take the test since March. Apparently their website had 7 million attempts to book tests in a 12 hours period on Friday.

My daughter had her test postponed on 3 occasions from March and it was hard knowing whether to carry on with regular lessons at £50 a time or wait until she had a date.

She was lucky to have a test a month ago and the examiner told her he was only doing 4 or 5 a day, so it could take a while to clear the backlog.

It was a nightmare on Friday, I kept getting kicked off part way through and when I did get in it asked me for a date for the test centre which I thought was weird.

Surely it should ask you which test centre first and then give you the available dates

DD has only just started to learn to drive about 6 weeks ago, delayed from starting in early April, so some time to go yet before needing actually needing a test.

I did say to her though that if the practical tests are as hard to book as her theory one (Just booked her theory test in and the nearest date is 3 months away!), then we should just get it booked in! (If you can even do that).

The thing is that the DVSA said "due to unexpected demand." Idiots.

My Ds passed last week having been postponed twice in lockdown. Locally they are still booking postponements and they are going through to april. There are 3 of 5 examiners and half the tests. They have changed the test too, if you get a major you are brought straight back to test centre. No sat nav either. Ds test was approx right length though.

We've given up for now.
So annoying as our son was test ready and was booked to take his test JUST before lockdown after him having postponed one due to uni interviews. Of course it got cancelled. Then he had other rescheduled tests postponed after that...

Of course, he will no longer be test ready now, and he goes away to uni in 2 weeks!

That means we are now looking to get it booked for the January whilst he is at home on the Xmas break from uni. A bunch of refresher lessons and a slog for us driving practice crammed in.

We logged on at 8.00 yesterday to book a test.

68023 people in front of us

By 4.00pm we got to the front of the Q and were told no tests were available for the nearest test centres.

So what a waste of time.

DS's instructor managed to get DS a test for October, may be worth asking yours if you have one.

His first test was planned for late March, it's all incredibly frustrating and driving tests just seem to be being left to fester, I don't understand why nothing's being done.

You might be surprised, my DS was test ready, then didn't drive for ages, i put him back on ins for a month and it lapsed again. He only had two instructor lessons and out a few times in the 10 days after he got his test date. He passed. If its properly learnt, then it will still be there.
