Road trip help
After ten days at OKW we are hoping to do a 7 night road trip before last 4 nights at Universal. We normally love our road trips and have done California, Boston etc but I'm finding it harder to plan for Florida. I definitely want to do Key West (but might stay 2 nights at Marathon), I'm not too sure about Miami and not too sure were to stay on West Coast on way back up. Two adults, two teens 15 and 13
Initial idea was Miami (where?)- 2 nights Marathon/Key West- 2 nights Naples (where?)- 2 nights Clearwater- 1 night Anybody else done this and were would they recommend and any hotel tips? We normally don't mind were we stay and like free parking even if it is closer to an interstate and we can drive to the sights. Thanks |

Personally we dislike Miami so wouldn't spend time there.
And I would stay at Anna Maria Island rather than Clearwater. |

We have planned a road trip for this year; travelling from The Keys to Naples, staying at The Bellasera after many recommendations on here. We’ve got a 2 bedroomed apartment there as my teenagers can barely breath the same air, let alone share a bed.
Then up to near Sarasota, as it was cheaper than AMI but we plan to visit, and fish off Rod & Reel pier, as well as have a trip on Captain Fin’s boat at Bradenton beach. We have booked a house with Home Away (booked via Expedia). We’re flying in and out of Miami, but have no plans to visit. We’re staying at Deerfield on the way back down. Edited at 08:10 PM. |

I’ve stayed on Sanibel island, Sarasota and Naples. All recommended. I fancy Marco island too at some point.
If you haven’t been to Miami you should give it a go for 1 night. |

I personally like Miami & think it’s worth a night to explore the usual sights, but you could always look at vero beach instead for a more Disney vibe?
It’s further north than Miami so would mean a longer drive to key west of course. Sarasota is beautiful and I don’t think you can wrong on that coast. You’ve mentioned Naples and I’d happily stay there again. Would love to do AMI but clearwater / st Petes also lovely too. All in all, I don’t think you can go far wrong & I realise how unhelpful this post is 🤣
