Do you think it's worth booking?

My autistic daughter wears masks in shops etc. But struggles a little. She says she could cope wearing one on the cruise (UK DCL staycation for 3 nights) but i'm not sure

Honestly, maybe not. Unless the policy is relaxed they're going to be needed for a large proportion of time on board.

I'll admit it's definitely off putting

I am on the verge of saying we won't book it incase she can't cope wearing a mask onboard.

Aren’t they saying that you don’t need to wear a mask in certain situations- like if you’re eating and drinking, swimming and whilst “stationary” - I don’t know about you, but this covers pretty much 99% of my time on a cruise.

True. I thought it was only while "stationary" outside?

You know best what's right for your family, but a couple of advantages on cruises are that drinks and food are mostly free so you can just grab a soft drink and sit down for a few minutes, and your room is never too far away if things are too much!

The price is definitely quite off-putting though!

Yes I think you are right about that.

To be honest I’m slightly concerned about how the booking of outdoor space is going to work - will it be set timings and then an ‘everyone out’ type call so they can clean before the next sitting? That seems the most likely to me as otherwise how will those in the queue have any idea when they will be called up? How can they plan the rest of their day if they are waiting in the virtual queue?

Or will the tables dotted around the ship end up being similar to WDW counter service restaurants on a busy lunchtime, where people are hovering trying to make those sitting feel uncomfortable enough that they move on? Not exactly relaxing and will result in longer times wearing masks I suspect.

Because of this we have opted for a verandah room for the first time in years - purely so we have a place where we know we can sit outside without masks whenever we want to. I’m hoping that will make things less stressful if my worst fears about being on deck are realised - we will simply take our food trays down to our rooms and sit on the balcony (wrapped in blankets if needs be!) 👍
