Caribbean Beach Resort expansion and Old Port Royal closure for refurbishment

This thread has been automatically created, because the original thread had over 500 posts.

The original thread was located HERE.

The first post was...

Hello,

I thought this may be of interest to anyone going to CBR over the next couple of years.

https://DIBB.in/12292669

from WDWmagic site:
Permits have been filed for a large expansion project at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.

'The addition of 7 new buildings will include one large multi-level building, which appears to be home to a large number of guest rooms.

Plans show that the new large building will occupy land that is part of the existing Barbados village of the resort, which will presumably be demolished for the expansion.

Along with new construction, there are also changes planed for the roadways and retention ponds.

Work is planned to begin in 2017, with completion in 2019. It isn't clear yet whether Disney Vacation Club villas will be part of the development, and Disney has not yet made any official announcement of the project.
Please feel free to carry on...

No worries.

The discussion itself wasn't closed. It's just that when a thread gets somewhere past 500 posts (as mentioned above), they close it and open a new one in which the same discussion continues.

An IT housekeeping thing, maybe?

Woke up this morning hoping all this was a dream but obviously not 😫😫 still can't believe what's going on and the way Disney is handling it. Hopefully I will hear from Orlando Attractions today as to what's happening/what can than do. We booked CBR for its chilled/relaxed feeling and was hoping to have a few cocktails lying at the pool. We are celebrating our 26th anniversary and our first kid free trip to Disney so was hoping for a very stress free holiday.

Good luck to everyone today waiting on phone calls and emails, hope you get something sorted that your happy with

I received the same "we endeavour to reply in 5-7 days email". I asked what my options were-moving(at their cost), some sort of compensation for staying or full refund as the hotel was not to the standard I booked. Spent an hour costing out different options(offsite) so will continue with that later.

@the waltons

my whole post was a parody on the cbr page on disneys website

Barefoot Bay = SteelToeCap Bay
Shutters = ShutOut etc...

In the resort page its says "Island themed food", closest I could think at the time was Ireland (as its close to home/similar to Scottish food - just like mentioning "roll van in Coatbridge").

And like most Scottish People - all 4 of my granparents were Irish! So wasn't a dig at my close ancestral home - its was a huge dig at Disney tho...
