Mobile Scotland-kids glasses on NHS getting repaired/replaced

My 6 year old needed new glasses a couple of months ago (we go to the hospital for her checks and they said her prescription had changed)

I got a pair from Boots opticians using the NHS voucher (I think I had to pay a tenner for the glasses my girl chose)

Anyway, they are constantly falling down her nose. Since getting them we have been back 2/3 times and needing to go back again. I honestly think I could be there every week getting them tightened. Does anyone know if I could request a new pair as these just aren’t suitable for her and I can’t keep going weekly to get them tightened. She does take care of them pretty well so I just don’t know if they are too ill fitting for her.

Any advice?

Thanks

One of my boys has worn glasses since 14 months old (he's now 9) and I've never had to go back to get them re-tightened, even when he was tiny. This sounds like the opticians have perhaps sold you frames that were too big for her in the first place. I'd be asking for a new pair personally.

A professional will measure & check fit prior to purchase and advise on fit/style. Sounds like they are too big for the child's face. Personally I'd always use an independent optician where they specialise in glasses & not a shop where they sell everything. Not saying all are poor but often not the best imo.

Boots Opticians is not just part of the Boots retail store, it is a separate business. It is a fully fledged opticians just like Specsavers or any independent opticians.

Ask the optician to check the fit again. My children go to a Boots optician and they are always very helpful.

When my children were little, I was also at the optician - not Boots - evey week to have their glasses tightened. The glasses were always fine, but they constantly needed tightened. My children got Christmas gifts from the optician's staff we were there that often!

You might consider buying a second pair, it will reduce your vists by half and you may find a different style fits your daughter's features better. It can take several pairs of glasses to find a style that best fits a child.
