Light-hearted & Serious Message (& Question)!

Today, this little rascal has uncovered some potential miscommunication for me!

Apparently, s/he is not necessarily nodding in happy agreement, but is laughing. I never saw it that way until today.

For years I've thought I was indicating positive agreement with people and now I discover some have thought it meant I was laughing AT what they were saying! So, if I have ever replied to your comment with this - it 100% meant I was agreeing with you and appreciated what you said.

What do you see: -

nodding in enthusiastic agreement ?
OR -
laughing with or at something ?

From now on, I'll stick to this one , but I'll miss you "nodding emoji"!

I thought it was a LOL emoji? I might be wrong though?

Can't imagine you as a laugh AT person. Laugh WITH ... definitely! That's the best sort person.

That's what I always thought! ...But I discovered not everyone sees it that way and can get the opposite message if you use them certain ways!

I really didn't 'see' it as just laughing until the misunderstanding today. I was confused by a reply I got and then, suddenly, it hit me! Luckily the other poster (Levtweeney) was lovely about it.

I would like a nodding emoji. I'm used to using it often.

It would be ironic if a lot of my agreement has been seen as disagreement!
