Finding your NHS number
DS is now eligible to book his first covid jab, but he can’t get his NHS number. He has tried on the government website page, using all his previous addresses, but they all can’t recognise him and he’s tearing his hair out. I’ve even looked in his NHS red baby book, but it’s not in there either. Any ideas where he can get it please?

Can he book using the online booking system. You don’t need to know your NHS number for that. You can book using name and DOB.

You don’t need it , just name and DOB so long as he is registered with a GP.

I phoned the gp and got it, they give me dds even though apparently she’s not registered there anymore

You don’t need it. But it’s worth pursuing (after you get the appt) as we had trouble picking up a prescription for DD as the address must have been incorrect on her records.
We found her correct NHS number in her baby book. Ours are Yellow but I assume it’s the same thing. It was on the first page. |

Thanks all for the swift replies, the booking system is being very glitchy and won’t let him book without his NHS number. It’s not in his red baby book, perhaps was before they put them in as he’s now 26. He’s on jury duty and not registered with a local doctor, I guess he will have to try his old doctors. I’ll pass it on, thanks

Its worth having and using MyGP and NHS app as both may well serve as covid passports - I was asked for proof the other evening going to the opera. If you didnt have the green tick there was additional screening so it made my life so much easier
