The Spanish Trilogy, Benalmadena December 2018. Day 4, Fuengirola and sunset at the marina.

Tuesday 18th December

Another 9 o’clock wake up, getting used to these lazy mornings.
We debated what to do today, we had spoken about visiting Marbella, the bus stop was outside tourist information and was €4.90 each way. It was pretty regular until 2.15pm then stopped until 11pm which was strange. We didn’t really want to rush about but also didn’t want to be stuck there so decided to give it a miss and maybe go tomorrow. We have stayed there before but our hotel wasn’t in the centre and it was years ago.
Breakfast was the same.

Followed by a hot chocolate and biscuits.

We said we would walk to Fuengirola and get a bus back.
It was already a beautiful morning.

It wasn’t as nice as walking along the seafront to Torremolinos but we stuck at it.

It took about 2 hours but finally we were getting somewhere.
Roundabout with elephants on it.

We were pretty thirsty now so walked along the seafront, most bars were closed though and it took a little while to find somewhere.

It was nice but we both preferred Benalmadena. We didn’t venture into the town though. We chatted about Man United and Matt thoughts on Zidane becoming the new manager.
A beer and Sangria was €6.20.
We had to climb more steps to the bus stop then got a little confused if the bus would actually go to Benalmadena so walked to the next stop. We waited for about 10 minutes and hopped on a bus. It was €1.10 each. Just had to navigate Cardiac hill and it was back in the usual spot for sun and sangria before lunch. Step count was 7 miles.
We don’t normally have lunch when we are away but one bonus of this hotel was that the days menu was displayed every morning and we fancied paella again.

I also had chicken, a yorkie and gravy, the gravy was so good.

It was a little colder now so we stayed in the bar and ended up getting signed up to watch a sangria making demo. It was the entertainment staff again, he also asked us if we wanted to join in with line dancing but gave that a miss.

The homemade sangria was very nice.
We really wanted to enjoy the sunset over the marina tonight so got changed and headed out early evening.
We walked a different way tonight and ended up at the very beginning of the marina.

It was a lovely evening and really quiet.

We discovered you can take a little train around the marina for €4.
We found a bar and ordered a beer and mojito. We were given some free snacks.

It wasn’t late when we left and would have liked another drink on the way back but all the bars were closed now so we walked back to the hotel.

We had dinner a little earlier tonight. I was pleased to see whitebait on the buffet.

I don’t normally eat so much but the food was so good.
We found seats upstairs and I was very happy we were in time for the quiz tonight, movie questions, perfect for me.
Matt answered the first question then I did the rest.

We swapped papers and to my surprise we got 18/20 and won! The prize was a med playa baseball cap and bottle of bubbly, again all these extra things were free. I told the girl my name was Sapphire, Matt was laughing at me. I gave the bottle to the couple that marked my paper as it was messy and the spelling wasn’t great. I never win anything so I was over the moon. The lady next to me said well done and I got chatting to her. Entertainment was flamenco dancing.

We watched some but it’s not really our cup of tea so went to the bar instead. When the dancing was over we went back to the seats for the disco, but it was mainly Spanish dancing, so we chatted to the lady we spoke to earlier. She introduced herself as Michelle and she was there with her son and a friend was joining her the next day. They had been on the cable car which included a birds of prey show in the mountains and told us about a park nearby. Her son was wearing a football shirt so Matt was happy to talk sport to someone. We got one last drink before 12 and went up about 12.30.

Your step count must have been good everyday! The food and drinks look delicious! And well done on winning the quiz - I would have been last as I am hopeless on movies at the best of times!

We really enjoyed having a walk in the morning while it was warm but not uncomfortable, we needed it after all the food and drink as well
I do love movies, I was still suprised we won though.

Another lovely day, such a nice time to be away as the resorts look so much quieter than in the summer.

The bar with the mojito and snacks looks pretty with the sun setting. I do love it if they bring snacks with the drinks even if I’m full,I can never resist them 😀

We love going out of season now, I know the bars close earlier but it’s great without all the pushing and shoving.
The snacks are a nice touch. Agree you can still find room even if you are full
