Eurostar direct vs Eurostar and TGV/Ouigo
Hi fellow dibbers, we are planning on going to DLP this August again after our last trip there in 2013.
We will be travelling down by train from Hull to London on the Sunday, staying overnight and then getting the eurostar on the Monday. Last time we went departed at Lille and then got a TGV to Disney (and vice versa on the return. This saved us around £600 (compared to direct train) as there were 8 of us going last time, only 5 this time. If we go via the direct route it will cost us £884 return. Its hard to price up the indirect route as TGV don't release their prices for August yet but going in the first week of July would be £661 via TGV or £500 via Quigo. I'm worried about any potential strike action affecting the TGV and Quigo trains (it didn't last time) and wondered if I should just stick with the direct train? Another con as well as the price of a direct train is that on the return it doesn't get to London until 18.47, we'd then have another 2.5 hour journey back to Hull. Talk me into using the direct one folks. |

How about direct Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord and then the RER? There’s more choice of trains (& prices) and it’s only about 15 euros on the RER & takes 35-40 mins. You could then get back to St Pancras in time for a reasonable train north.

Thanks for the reply, just priced up direct to gard de nord and its £346 return, so cheaper than Lille. RER looks a little complicated (on paper) but is £54 return.
£400 altogether for 3 adults and 2 kids is a great price thanks. |

The RER is pretty easy. It's 15 Euros return per person, and you can buy tickets at the machine in the station (there's an 'English' button') or from a ticket desk.
You take the blue line B, direction Sud (South) one stop to Chatelet les Halles. Then you get off, and go to the platform directly facing you - no stairs, lifts etc needed, it's right there. You get the red line A to Marne la Vallee. The sign board has little lights next to each station, so as long as the light next to MLV is lit, you can get that train. It takes about 45 minutes.
