Where to stay in Milan?

I have booked really cheap flights for my wife and I to go Milan in Feb and had booked a hotel. However, it looks like the hotel is a little too far out from the centre, so I can cancel it if I want to.

Any suggestions on where to stay? I don't want to spend a fortune, just somewhere safe and clean.

We are only in Milan for 2 nights.

I've stayed at the NH Collection President Milano hotel - about 5 mins walk from the cathedral/square and close to restaurants etc nice breakfast and comfortable beds.

I stayed at the Hotel Canada Milano, and found it very reasonably priced compaired to most hotels in Milan, it is also very central and you can walk to most places.

We stayed at the Hotel Dei Cavaleiri last August for a few nights and it was really nice. Fabulous selection for breakfast. Only a few minutes walk to the central square/Duomo/shopping area etc.
