Mobile San Diego and Los Angeles hotel reccomendations

Hi all,

I am planning our west coast trip flr my husbands 30th and hoping for some reccomendations for hotels in Los Angeles and San Diego.

We will have a car so free parking or cheap parking is a bonus. Just the two of us travelling.

Thanks a lot
Grace

For the LA part of our trip we stayed at The Tangerine in Burbank. Lovely rooms and clean. I was initially sceptical as it was motel style with external doors but it felt safe. Pastries and coffee in reception to help yourself to and free parking. We didn't move the car as Uber's were cheap and lots of places to eat within walking distance. Felt safe walking about. In San Diego we stayed at Best Western Islsnd Palms on Shelter Island. Nice large suite and lovely location on the water. It was a bit further out from the centre but again Uber's were cheap and a nice quiet location. Have a great time!

Depends what you want to do in LA

Do you want to be near Hollywood , Disney , beaches etc . It’s fairly spread out and traffic is bad so it’s important to get the right area .

For San Diego I'd recommend Humphries Half Moon Inn & Suites

We like the Homewood Suites San Diego Airport / Liberty Station in San Diego. Don't let the name put you off - very little airport noise and near several restaurants. In LA, we stayed in the Magic Castle in Hollywood. Not the most luxurious place but amazing customer service and really well located for Hollywood attractions.

We stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, it was amazing and we would definitely stay there again. We were right next to Seapot Village and were able to walk to the Gaslamp Quarter and many other places.

Another vote for Best Western Island Palms in San Diego. Stayed there twice so far and really lovely place. The restaurant - The Wave - serves great food.

And the walk along the promenade in the early evening is lovely. It over looks the Coronado airbase and the city. Always aircraft taking off.

We stayed at the Marriott Marquis in San Diego. Amazing hotel and we had a room overlooking the bay and Coronado Island. It really was perfect.

Really depends on where you want to be. LA- Loews Hollywood Hotel. Practically backs onti the walk of fame and the shopping centre. We had a corner suite and had views over LA and capitol records building. It was great. If you want to be located in Hollywood it’s perfect.
In San Diego we stayed on Coronado Island at the Hotel Coronado, not directly in San Diego but a good beach hotel. Again depends where you want to be and what you want.
