Disney Cruise bus - what time does it leave Disney property approximately?
Just wondering if anyone knows what time the cruise bus leaves the resort on day of cruise? we are staying at POFQ. Not sure if we should hire car or not.
Thanks

It can be any time after 09:30 and as late as 1pm. There are pros and cons to using DCL transport and using private cars.
Pros for bus: No worry about driving, parking. Go straight into terminal building, no need for a Port Arrival Time (PAT). Cons for bus: Expensive, no control over timings. If you decide to make your own way there, you'll need to choose a PAT when you do your online check in. This could be as late as 12pm anyway, so you haven't really gained any timing (please don't arrive earlier than your PAT as it causes overcrowding in the terminal and you could be turned away). I'll ask for this post to be moved to the Cruise forum too instead of the trip reports forum :-)

The best time to arrive is 12:30-1pm no matter what your PAT says. The terminal will then be doing open boarding so you'll walk in, check in, then go straight to the ship and by the time you've done that, your room will be ready!
Much better than hanging around waiting!

Our PAT time is 10.30-10.45. Do you still advise to arrive at 12.30? Do you think the terminal will be packed at this time? We’d love to get the extra couple of hours on the ship but not if it means we’ll be stuck in lines for hours and not end up getting on ship until 12.30 anyway? Thanks

The whole point of PAT is to stagger boarding times . If you are lucky enough to have an earlier one and want more time to explore the ship then use it. ... if you don't then change it. Both early and late for PAT can mean you are made to wait anyway.

Yeah, just thought if lines are really bad that early then we could come a bit later. I suppose it just is what it is

I'd be delighted to get an earlier PAT time so I'm not sure what the problem is.

No there are not long queues if you arrive for your allocated PAT time.
The people who are early have to wait while you board and you can go through. Remember you won’t be able to go onto your room until at least 15:00 so put the kids swimming stuff on under their clothes so they can have a dip in the pools while they are quiet. Edited at 12:23 PM. |
