Recommend a selling agent?

It does look like we're going to sell our 72 point BCV contract following the major shift in the number of points required for a Studio stay from 2020. We were looking at trying to stay longer now we've both retired early, rather than making trips shorter.

Can anyone recommend an agent that they've used? Some idea of the charges would also be helpful - I've seen an agent that charges 8.5% and don't know whether this is the normal amount. How difficult it is to get the money transferred back to the UK? What is this 15% retained tax element and how do you claim it back?

Any other advice would also be appreciated.

I'd recommend Resales.DVC the Tutas family. The rate you've quoted is about right although I think they might be slightly less. A 72 point BCV contract would be quite desirable and they'll be able to advise you of the best price to pitch it at.

We have used DVC Magic Resales who I cannot fault. However I was not impressed with the escrow agent they used. It was partially my fault I suppose in that I should not have expected to be reminded that we had two weeks to return the signed final document by post (Fedex or the like). As it happens we could not do it in that timescale anyway as one of the signatories is in Singapore and the amount of faffing around that we had to do meant that we lost the sale and had to pay all the costs.

We did not have a legal advisor which would have been handy as we were signing legal documents.

I have found that to claim back the tax would cost about the same amount as the tax we paid, in the region of $425). So when I have time I am going to look into doing it myself.

I�d recommend this resale company as well. They are extremely helpful and organise a tax specialist to help getting tax back.
