Mobile Car for 4 adults with large suitcases

Last time we went we ordered an SUV (RAV4 or similar), for 3 of us with large cases, but when we got to the garage the attendant said the car want big enough and gave us a grand caravan which was a bit too big for us lol. This time around there are 4 of us with large cases, so obviously a grand caravan would be ideal but they cost a fortune. Any thoughts on what SUV we could try. I'm happy to put cases on the back seat if need be

If you aren't travelling around the only issue will be the two airport runs.
Once they are sorted then the car will be a lot more comfortable.
But, nobody wants to be cramped and the price difference between an intermediate (Rav4 size) and a standard SUV is not that big.

I would suggest a standard SUV as there is far more flexibility to get cases in the back than in a saloon boot. Worst case scenario the 4th case can go between the two back seat passengers.

An intermediate SUV probably isn’t big enough. The last time we had 4 adults we got a massive 7 seater on a Hertz glitch. A couple of years ago we had a Hyundai Santa Fe which is a standard SUV. There were only two of us but as you can see from the picture we had a lot of bags. Two are cabin bags and two are small suitcases.

We had a brand new Dodge Journey, I loved it my son and brother hated it. Son said it was like trying to turn a tank. This was classed as a standard SUV and it had plenty of room - 4 adults, 4 large suitcases, 4 cabin suitcases, 2 handbags. Coming home 4 adults, 4 large suitcases, 4 cabin suitcases, 2 handbags and 3 back packs. It all fitted even though it was a bit of squeeze in back seat.

And the journey is rated as one of the smallest capacity standard suvs for cargo space.
OP to give you an idea the journey with 3rd row folded you have the luggage capacity of 3 VW golfs so no issue with what you post.
OP I think MRTM would advise against the dodge however an to be honest it is marketed in US as a Budget vehicle aka US type of Dacia Duster nothing wrong just no bells and whistles and Budget fittings used to keep it cheaper for certain markets.
So a Standard SUV is fine
Enjoy.

I was mentioned!

The Dodge Journey is fine, but as I found out and DuncanB says it is very bare of extras.

However I drive a BMW here so do expect a lot and then get disappointed.

Will be worse from next week when I pick up a new car.

Will do. My Wife says I must keep it for 3 years this time. It came down from Tamworth on Friday so it no longer has 9 miles on the clock!

I wont change until next week as I still have a third of a tank of diesel and they aren't having that!
