Tell Me About Avis Preferred
We signed up for Avis Preferred last year before going to Miami and have just booked another BA flydrive.
One of the Avis workers said to us that we could have chosen our car on the Avis App. I have just had a look but cannot see anywhere to do this. Does anyone know if this is correct and if so, how does it work? Thanks in advance x |

We did it last year, but you need to download the US app, my husband set it up as I couldn't work it out lol. We were told what car we were allocated and the bay, which we were happy with as was a white Tahoe but when we got to the bay someone had swapped it and we ended up with upgraded suburban which delighted him!

I used the app last year flying into Tampa, but was happy with allocated car so didn’t try changing. Is handy though, we went to booth in garage anyway as I always prepay fuel option and make sure car voucher applied so nothing to stress about on return.
Note you can’t pick car in advance, it will just show your class booked beforehand when rental is “Upcoming”. It shows your allocated car on the day when it’s been assigned - in the app this is shown as “Current” and ready for pick up. So on arrival you can see and swap it. |

Thank you this is all helpful information.
The car we were given last year had seen better times. It had numerous dents, scratches, a warning light that stayed on permanently and the tire pressure needed redoing several times. We queried all of this when we picked up the car, we’re given various explanations and assured that the car had been properly serviced. We could not change because there were no other cars available. It was at this point that one of the workers suggested that we use the App in future. The car did survive the holiday! |
