Sharps Box

Staying at POFQ next year but I'm diabetic and I take insulin. I wondered if Disney would be able to supply me with a sharps box or will I have to carry used needles back to the UK?

Take an empty sharps bin with you, they weigh next to nothing and you won't need a huge one. Use it whilst you are there, when you are ready to leave, seal it and leave it in the room and housekeeping will dispose of it accordingly

Our NHS don’t issue sharps boxes in my area; they tell you to use an empty screw cap bottle, so where would I get one?

I’m shocked and appalled to read that. I work in a hospital and can assure you that they should not be advising you to do that with any sharps at all. You should be entitled to one on prescription. It’s for public safety. The council would go nuts if they found out you were given this advice from the NHS. Here’s the NHS guidance on sharps.

There are sharps boxes on the wall in a lot of the resort hotel toilets.

WOW can't believe you can't/don't get sharps boxes. I get them via the doctors reception desk and then notify the council to collect them (only do that every 4 boxes to save expense on council)

So how do you dispose of your screw top bottle?

Thanks! From the link you added I think this is more relevant to England but I will check with my GP tomorrow.I used to get a sharps box but was told by my diabetic nurse that NHS Scotland had stopped issuing them just over a year ago. Have to admit I have never been happy with the current situation.
