Cake baking advice needed urgently

I have mixed the ingredients (SR flour, sugar, marg) and have remembered that I don’t have baking powder. Never made a cake without this. I am making cupcakes. Will they be OK without?

As you're using Self Raising flour, yes they should be fine.

I make cupcakes all the time. No need for baking powder if you use SR flour. 😀

Thanks all, you saved me from having to go shopping, which I hate. They have turned out OK, if a little small. I am going now to make some more but with half as much mixture again.

The extra baking powder will give you a lighter cake but as you found out the SR flour has enough raising agent in it to give a good cake.

And now I have to go shopping this afternoon, after all. I bought green and red food colouring a couple of weeks ago ... and can’t find it!
