Guess who I met halfway up a mountain
15KM from the nearest village...
I was showing a client a house for sale in the region. We were waiting for the owner to bring the keys. A car pulled up and I presumed it was someone with the keys. Started talking in Spanish to be greeted with a lovely lilting Irish accent, presumed they were lost. No, Jehovah Witnesses looking for English speaking people! I explained that English speaking people are far and few here, but lots of Dutch in a village further away. Very pleasant people, but wow I just couldn’t believe it |

Unbelievable. Can't fault their dedication and zeal can you.
Don't send them to my house please! Saying that they are the only people who pay heed to the sign on my front door that says 'No cold callers, political canvassers and religous people'

We had Russsian JW a week or so ago, knocked on our door after seeing my car number plate, my name is on it! Asking if we spoke Russian! I don’t!

Years ago we had Jehovah Witnesses knock on our door on Christmas Day. I couldn’t believe it - I stood there for a minute struck dumb. I usually just smile and say I am not interested but that day they really annoyed me as I felt they had gone out their way to wind me up.

We had similar one Christmas when I was a child. The worst thing was they brought their children with them, I will always remember the little faces looking in as we were opening our presents.
Another funny story was I once opened the door to Jehovah Witnesses whilst I was having a nose bleed, never seen people back away so quickly!

They've only been to ours once - my husband answered the door and got into a debate with them about how they should be Muslim instead (he isn't religious at all and was just trying to make a point) after about 5 mins they made an excuse to leave now they give us a wide berth when they are on the street.

We have a Temple nearby, they used to come down the street a lot, but haven’t seen them door knocking for years now. Always used to explain I was an atheist. I once had one ask why. I said ‘Why are you a Jahovas Witness?’ Pleasant enough but I was a bit surprised at his cheek.
We’ve had Mormons around as well. Once two quite attractive American girls, so was happy to speak to them. They couldn’t believe I was an atheist. They were also surprised when I knew a bit about their religion and told them I’d been to St George, Utah (Brigham Young’s winter home) and seen the big Mormon temple. They didn’t even know about the place.

that's funny! We recently just started having them call at our door, always seem very polite, but they always tend to call at the most inconvenient of times!

Our eldest daughter was at primary school with a girl who's parents were JW. Stephi wanted her to come to her birthday party but we were not sure about "protocol". DW spoke to her mum and she was absolutely overwhelmed as her daughter had never been asked before. She explained that she would not be able to take part in the "Birthday" celebration, such as singing the song or being at the table when the candles were blown out etc but other wise she was sure she would enjoy herself. And she did! Lovely family, lovely girl, and never once did they talk to us about their religion.

I worked alongside a girl who was JW, she was lovely and never talked about what she believed in unless we directly asked her. She was also a qualified roofer (we are secretaries) and worked on the local
Kingdom hall they were building. We used to laugh that usually her days off led her to christmas off work. She said she would just go on a walk somewhere with other JW somewhere nice!
