Jumping on this thread! We are a family of 5, does anybody know if any of the standard cabs will take us all plus luggage? Trying to work out if it’s best to prebook something. We are arriving a similar time to the op. Thanks

We used Strussers and whilst we were perfectly happy with the service we wouldn’t bother booking in advance again. There were lots of yellow cabs readily available outside the terminal building. We used one of these for the return journey to the airport and it was a lot cheaper.

It is possible, it depends how big your party of 5 is. Two of my kids are bigger than me so mine was essentially 4 adults one child. Plus cases. The cases were the potential issue.

I prebooked with JRLuxurynyc as above - glad I did, certainly for the outbound trip as we didn't want to have to scramble for cabs - we used them for the return trip for ease. You do get what you pay for. It was around $120-130 one way plus tip.

I also found lots of yellow cabs wouldn't pick us up even without cases when on Manhattan island as DD was older than 12 and were licensed for 4 or 5 with one under 10.

It may be that those cabs picking up from JFK have larger party licenses. If you go the cab route, you do have to go to the taxi booth outside the terminal and let them know you are a larger party and they will see who they have available to take you. Non large parties not such an issue.

I used Blacklane last week - worked pretty well.
