You don't think having a doorbell that lets you see who is at your door, and can be recorded for security purposes indicates there may be other expensive gadgets behind the door/is an indicator of people who buy "stuff".

the only people I know - personally - others may have different experiences - who have them so far are the gadget "geeks" (my husband is one), or the parents of gadget geeks.

Gadget geeks often have a load of gadgets around that are quick and easy to shift if you were to break in (as told to us by the Police officer at our Neighbourhood watch meeting - not from personal experience).

Due to the major employers locally, we live in a particularly high "geek" area.
