travel insurance before or after op?

Hi, I have biceps tendonisis & I'm going to have an operation next month, its keyhole surgery in & out in a day to re-attach the tendon.
I was waiting to book travel insurance after the results of my MRI scan, so now I am unsure if I should do my travel insurance now, as I know what my treatment is, or should I wait until I have had the surgery next month? & does anyone know if this type of surgery adds a lot to the cost?

My first trip is just 4 days DLP in June,
Thanks in advance

I’d do it now. All being well your surgery will go completely as planned and you’ll make a straightforward recovery but if you don’t you will be covered if you have to cancel your holiday.

Underwriter advice a few years ago; don't/can't insure until post surgery to allow for any complications that may arise.

We're insured through our bank and I'm waiting for a back op (10 month wait) or spinal injection don't know which but want to book a holiday for June. For a years insurance they want an extra £80 and fit to fly letter. Although since I got the quote I'm taking pain killers so maybe a little more.

I would say buy it before the op in case something else goes wrong for you. Whatever you decide, you will still have to declare it.

I've tried to do a quote today & none ask about surgery, the only option is to declare tendonisis, which I wont have when I travel!
I think I'll have to call.

Whilst you may have recovered from surgery for tendonitis when you travel, if within 2 to 5 years (underwriter dependant) you're required to declare.
