Villa Checks

Hi,

I am looking at villa options for next year and of course our lovely DIBB villa owners will be my first point of call and have been previously

However, the area we are looking at as an option to stay is Story Lake Resort and there are no DIBB villa owners there at the moment. I have found a thread of the checks you can complete when renting a villa but it seems to require the owners name etc. If you book through a 3rd party like HomeAway or Booking.com for example what checks can you make to make sure everything as far as possible will be ok? I may be over thinking it but i'm looking for a bit of guidance and/or reassurance, thanks
