The 40th Birthday trip, 3 years early-Pre-Travel Day-Are you trying to kill me?

So, the day before the day had finally arrived, the last day of April and the day before our final ever trip to Walt Disney World.

It’s a bittersweet feeling, but it also doesn’t seem real. The trip has been booked for over a year and I am slightly in disbelief that after all the planning and counting down, its nearly here.

We left mum’s house just after 11am and thankfully didn’t encounter any major issues on route. Apart from nearly crashing the car trying to decide whether she was coming off the slip road or not and then ignoring my instructions (that she had printed from the internet) nearer to the airport resulting in her having a meltdown about going the wrong way and me persuading her to just do a u turn at the traffic lights.

We arrived at the Crowne Plaza in one piece at around 12.30, and luckily our room was ready. We checked in, collected our car park forms and checked that we would be able to use the shuttle to the airport for twilight check in later and we could.

It was our first stay here, and we were happy with it. The room was nice and big, there were tea and coffee making facilities with the bonus of Galaxy hot chocolate and biscuits! There was also a hairdryer, a bottle of water and a lavender sleep spray, exciting!

We caught the shuttle to the airport just before 4 for twilight check in. just to add, we weren’t sure if we’d be eligible for this as our flight wasn’t until 9.55am but I’d done an online chat on Sunday with Virgin and they’d advised that we were due to the trial they were running at Manchester Airport.

It was super quick, we were the only people there, we were asked a couple of questions and then told ‘come back in 20 minutes when we’ve done the security checks.’ My suitcase weighed 11kg, it will not weigh that on the way home I can tell you that now!

We had a mooch and a seat in the airport, bought some magazines and went back to the desk after 20 minutes. Everything was fine, he waved us away before we even got back to the desk! We headed back downstairs and arranged our shuttle bus back to the hotel.

We’d bought snacks and some cocktail cans with us, so we just went back to the room to relax, well as much as you can relax when you’re going to Walt Disney World in the morning!

We watched The Book Thief, which I’d been meaning to watch for ages but never got around to, and we really enjoyed it. We then watched the final episode of The Widow and at some point, after this, fell asleep dreaming of Mickey and Minnie!
