Barclays take any amount as long as you have an account as they transfer the money into it.

My sister and I always have this argument but it’s only because I’m impatient. I don’t think there’s much in ours as I seldom use cash these days and my sister never puts anything in it. We don’t go until September so it’s ridiculous to open it now but part of me thinks we’ll not put any more in and as I’d like to use it as spends I kind of need to know how much is in it.
I’ll be off the day before we go so really have no reason not to wait until the last minute but I know I’ll find an excuse to open it earlier!

Love reading everyone's saving stories but how do you achieve so much? It's just me and DH at home, we save £2 coins but only managed £120 over the year. We used it for the taxi to Heathrow so we were very happy. Now reading about all your mega saving pots I feel we're not going about this the right way! What are we missing?

I usually put £10 a week in ours, when I do the weekly shop I get cash back and put that in the pot as we usually did not have much loose change these days.

Quite a few banks have coin counting machines which you just tip all the coins into and they then either pay it direct into your bank account using your bank card or they print of a receipt which you then take to the counter and pay it in that way. These machines give you all of your cash unlike those found in supermarkets like Asda which keep a cut for themselves.

We are quite lucky as the place where DW works takes all our lose change when we empty our tins.

That would be ideal but I don’t think mine does that.

We opened two yesterday. Mine was made up of money earned not in my real jobs. In short this means TV and Film extra work. Mine was a tin. OH was one of those ceramic jobs bought from the post office and made up of £1 coins which were in purse at the end of the day.

In short she won. I have £360 she had £390.

Goes in the bank tomorrow and will pay for our onboard expenses next week on our Cruise.
