Fjords excursions for a wheelchair user?

Hi we're going to the Fjords in June with my SIL she can walk short distances, like around house/ garden a shop very short walk.
They tried her to get up a coach steps today to see if she could for the excursions but she couldn't do it.
Are there any wheelchair users here how do you manage excursions?
Looking at maybe a boat trip as it's usually stepping down a step or 2 .
Any advice please
Thanks

that's really poor, i would expect them to look after quite a few people that need a wheelchair. What about tweeting them or messaging on facebook? They should be making this easy for you

If it is anything like the Costa Rica excursions my nan went on last year they will have a couple of "very attractive young men" (though probably not shirtless in that cold) - one took her under the armpits, the other took her feet and they "loaded her" onto the coach, the boat, the dockside etc... made her week!

Check how many tender ports you have, and ask about wheelchair use for shore tours. If there is a tour brochure see which ones are mobility friendly. Definitely try to phone someone knowledgeable at the cruise line though.

We did Norway last year and it will depend where you are stopping.
If she is in a wheelchair, some of the bigger locations are good to get around (like Bergen). You can get into the town from the port, some ports are small but enough for a few hours to look around.
My husband uses a walking stick so we didn’t do too many big walking trips.
If you are going to Flam, the railway stop is right opposite the ship.
Hope that helps

From experience, cruise operators are extremely poor at organising excursions for wheelchair users. I’ve done quite a few family cruises with my mum who needs a wheelchair full time and can’t transfer. Wheelchair transport is extremely limited and is often cancelled at short notice, and where it isn’t can be very expensive. My dad is in the highest loyalty tier with P&O and has been given a dedicated number to ring to book suitable excursions - even using the special department who arrange these tours he has very limited choice and they are often fully booked within minutes of being released. From experience, we now arrange our own tours when we travel with my mum as it’s more reliable and significantly cheaper.
I’ve been amazed at the lack of assistance and consideration from several cruise companies with regards to this as cruises in every other aspect are ideal for wheelchair users.
