We have a chip shop near us and when I say I am going to open our saving jar he always says bring it me and I will exchange it for notes. He told me they have to pay to get coins which I did not know and he said saves him a trip to the bank for change. When I got the Dollar earlier this year the shop said we could bring the bags as long as we had bagged them in the correct amounts will say it was pawn shop as they had a good deal on buying Dollars that day.

We fly 1st August and opened ours on Sunday. Been saving since Christmas, and got £638 - not bad and will cover parking and snacks in parks and bits for the kids.

HSBC are useless like that and have limits. But natwest don’t And Natwest have a coin counter machine (that doesn’t take commission!) so I use them .
But if there was a limit, we would just split it between us

Thanks everyone
We are not reliant on it but I know there is a fair few pounds in there and we too bank with Nationwide so that's what im afraid of with them only accepting so much at a time I don't have the time to be going to the bank every day. I think we compromised on 1 July last night so I'll keep you all informed. N

We're with Nationwide. Kids aren't limited to a set number of bags to pay in so we pay it all into DS's account then transfer it out. DS gets a commission for this, a share of the dollar

Must admit I usually open mine about 4 weeks before we go, unless it’s full before that, then we just open it! Our bank only takes 10 bags of coins per day which is a pain!

Husband took our car boot sale cash in to Barclays yesterday. About 30 bags of change. No questions asked about the number of bags.
