WBTA Sep 2020 - hurry up!
We are currently booked on the 7-night Norwegian Fjords cruise on the Magic for 30 Aug 2020, but thinking of changing to the 'tranny' if we can.
We loved our sea days during the Med cruise on the Magic in 2017, so extra sea days = yay! However, we would be unlikely to just get off the ship and jump on a plane home from NYC. Any idea if we could book a hotel for a few nights plus a flight home through our TA? (TOaD). If so, I am wondering whether the total price of the Fjords cruise is going to be that much less than the total price of the WBTA + 2 nights in NYC + flight? We just looked at one-way flights from NYC to London for the equivalent dates this year, and the prices were absolutely stupid. It looks like we would be penalised by the airline for starting in NYC rather than London.

We did a transatlantic in 2017. The one way return flight was £210 pp (JFK-MAN) with Thomas Cook. We added on three nights in New York, all booked diy. You are right though, some airlines want silly money for a one way flight, but you need to shop around.

If you have airmiles this is often a great way to get a good deal on a one way flight. Its all about timing for getting a good deal. That said I am waiting for the TA info to be released as debating this or a florida trip (or even maybe something different).

Hmm maybe not then although it may be worth thinking about a airmiles credit card or tesco clubcard exchange to get some. I know when I looked at 1 way without it was more than a return. It can still sometimes make it reasonable compared to other cruises but it just depends on luck at least some of the time. You can sometimes catch a good reductions especially when sales are on.

We have a John Lewis cc and don’t want another one. Don’t shop at Tesco either.

Norwegian do one way from NY? I know there are rumours about them but if you make sure your insurance covers you? Worth a look, they are reasonable? We used airmiles last year for our flight home! We loved the transatlantic! I have family in NY though so stayed with them!

I asked on the FB Disney cruises group and they mentioned the DCL air program.
Does that mean booking flights through DCL? Or our TA? Worth it for Brits?

So the flights are booked as part of the cruise. This could be direct with DCL or with a TA as realistically they probably book the same way. I have never looked at the TA flight price but it could well work out cheaper than trying to book direct.
