That's how a lot of us feel about the actual land opening! Loads of us going in September were hoping to avoid it.

You'd think they'd open it in January/Feb and give it an easy opening few weeks. Opening it right in the middle of the xmas crowds seems a risk - hope they are confident of it's reliability.

They would lose face if they had to delay it to 2020 on both coasts after announcing that both would open later this year. I think they shifted their resources to WDW because the resorts weren't filling up as they normally do. Everyone who goes at Christmas and NY is prepared to pay top dollar and they would miss out on too much money if guests delayed their trips because of RotR.
