Mobile Christmas and New Year idea please

Hi,

We are going for Christmas and New Year and looking for ideas of where to go on Christmas Day and New Years Eve. We know parks are nightmarishly busy but would consider it - we normally go around 4th July so used to crowds.

We went at Christmas 12 years ago and went to Villa de Flora on Christmas Day but am toying more with the idea of a park - is there such a thing as a quieter one on this day?

We’ve never been over New Year. Is there a recommended/ good place to go on New Years Eve?

Just trying to get a bank of ideas for the family to discuss and plan round.

Also, what weather should I be expecting. It was freezing the year we went at Christmas and we lived in fleeces and jeans but when I look at some trip reports I see people in crops and tee shirts - were we unlucky?

Thanks in advance

Jules

We went Christmas 2017 and went to Typhoon mid morning - very quiet, mainly Brits. We left for a late lunch and went to MK for the evening, which we didn't find too busy.

We were in shorts and t shirts most of the time. Its our only Christmas trip, so can't say what the norm is.

We were there over Christmas this year. At the beginning of our holiday we were in fleeces and leggings/jeans as it was cold. We even sat with our little fleece blankets one night watching Illuminations. By the end of our holiday we were sitting in the sunshine watching an NFL game in Tampa basking in hot sunshine. So you need to pack for all weathers.

Christmas Day we went to Animal Kingdom and it wasn't too bad at all, we went mid afternoon and it was comfortable to walk around even though busy but not horrendous. I don't think any of the parks closed this year due to the fact they were full, I think MK is likely to get more crowded over the Christmas period but we managed to many of the rides we wanted including Splash and Big Thunder.

I too was there at Christmas last year and funnily enough we went to AK and found it manageable. We arrived about 10.00 am and had 3 FP for the day.

In previous years we have stayed away from the parks, and played mini golf, got an ice cream, had a walk on the Boardwalk and gone somewhere nice later to eat.

We have also been to SW on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Christmas shows are really good and we really enjoyed being there, we saw the shows from about 4 or 5 pm and had booked preferred seating. It was really good.

Another alternative is DC as it is limited numbers so no busier than any other day, it's just that if it is cold it won't be as enjoyable.
