We contacted the TIW e-mail the other day to ask some questions, as we are looking at going August next year she confirmed if we order it on the 1st July the expiry date will be 31/8/2020 and allow 4 weeks for delivery.
We asked what happens if it doesn't arrive before our trip (9/8) and she said just contact them and they will sort something out. As YT says I can't see anywhere that confirms it is direct only, simply show your Membership ID, but I think we will order it over the phone to make sure we can definitely get it. The QS locations sound great. We are in BLT for the 2nd part of our trip which doesn't appear to have any at Contemporary. We will definitely make use of the AK ones though. |

Unless the policy has changed the phone line is for Florida residents and AP holders only.

Not sure if it’s a change but this was the number she gave in her email.
“Thank you for your message! As a Disney Vacation Club Member, you are able to order your membership pre-arrival. To do so, please call (407) 566-5858 Monday – Friday, 9AM- 5PM (EST). Please note it can take up to 4-5 weeks for a new card to deliver. As you are planning to visit us in August, we encourage you to give us a call a little more than 1 month ahead of time to place your order.” |

Good, they must have updated things then, previously the office at the end of that phone line couldn't verify DVC membership so wouldn't sell to DVC over the phone.

Is it better to order by phone or wait till arrival? We're AP holders but I've also bought in WDW.

It's a better quality card if you order by phone but waiting till you arrive would get you a different expiry date.
For example if you are going in Aug and bought over there you would get end Sept 2020 expiry, but you would have to order early July on the phone which would get you end Aug 2020 expiry. |
