Did you close the disc? Some player won't play a disc that hasn't been closed.

Sorry, just re-read my post and want to check -When I said close the disc, I mean't the session on the disc has to be closed. I wasn't asking if you shut the drawer on the player - I don't think I was clear?
If you put the disc back in your laptop and right click on it and select properties, what type of disc does it say it is? It maybe just a glitch as recordable media is prone to issues like this. |

You can still right click it, just open My Computer and right click from there, are they the same discs as used before, i.e DVD-r, DVD+r etc...

I've found that some DVD players/recorders can be particulary fussy about which DVD-RW disk they'll play, particularly some older disks. Try a different brand of disk.

If your using the same type of disc, same burning software, and everything is the same, then it would suggest your DVD player is at fault, they do get dirty lenses and they do wear out, and the first type of discs they will stop playing will be those burned at home as opposed to pressed dvd's (like movies you have bought)
If you have pets or smoke this also reduces the life span of optical drives. You can try a cleaning disc but in all my years of working in IT I have found them to be pretty much useless. |
