I just called premier inn north to add the meal deal to our booking, she said she cant do that as she cant take card payments over the phone but we can add it at check in. I booked a table for the evening meal, but she said they dont take bookings for breakfast as it's a buffet and first come first served

Im paying for our stay when i arrive at the hotel. It was easier for me to book and pay it on arrival

That’s actually not correct. I cancelled a non flex booking by phoning and they never mentioned refunding breakfast paid for but I got a refund on my credit card for the breakfast amount paid so they do refund you.

This was only a few months ago so I guess current policy.
