Polish license plate
I’m having a battle over my accident with a hgv last week.
The police took all his details and gave them to me. He didn’t speak any English to me. My insurance company are disputing the reg of the lorry. It’s BS1 20NC Is there any way to check if this number is legit?

Sorry about your accident and hope you are ok.
It's not for you to chase up anything as that's what they are paid for. Probably they haven't twigged its a foreign registered wagon so I would remind them Also if you have it give them the name or number of the Police Officer and they will correspond with him/her. Edit. Checked on Wikipedia and the format of the plate is correct.

I have given them the incident number from the time.
I have mentioned it was Polish in my original call to them.

Ive just put an Edit on my post.
I would go back to them and repeat what you said. Nothing more you can do really. Have you any photos of the bump in situ maybe showing the plate?

Did you not take and pictures of the accident, to include the HGV and it's number plate?

My daughter was hit by a Romanian HGV, (100% his fault) she got pictures of the number plate, damage etc and to give the driver his due he showed all his documents and my daughter took a photo of them, but it seems as soon as they leave the country insurance companies either can't be bothered or wont chase any claim - this was about yrs ago now.

Unfortunately not, having spun round to oncoming traffic getting my phone out of my handbag to photograph things was the last thing on my mind. I sat shaking at the wheel whilst on hands free to the police.

I’m not surprised in that situation photos were the last thing on your mind.
But it’s only metal after all. Could have been so much worse. 99% certain your Insurer will pick up the costs for your car. Not right or fair but as a previous poster said they won’t get anywhere with a foreign insurer quickly.
