Never used budget for a car hire always use Avis or alamo
Is there option to skip the counter on pick up

Thats correct... I'm basing my answer on the assumption you're from the UK. There are some countries who can take advantage of the Fastbreak system which allows you to skip the desk, if you've previously registered and attended the desk in the past... But sadly this isn't available to UK customers.

I take it it should be straight forward going to desk or do they try give you hard sell 🤔

Always worth having your wits about you at the rental desk. Like all desk staff, they get paid commission on extra sales so they'll try it on given the chance.
