Sadly the basic insurance with a Virgin fly-drive (and Tui ) is obscenely low. You should never consider anything less than full CDW with no excess and $1m SLI.
This is asked regularly on here though. Worth checking an alternative price from Andy at DFCH and ditch the "included" car. All Andy's prices include insurance. Highly recommended on here - we've used him 6 times in the last 3 years. discountfloridacarhire/ A bit too late now but if you want a fly-drive in future try BA. They use Avis and Budget and their cars are fully insured. Mick

Hi. I used to book Virgin flydrives back in the early 2000's but after then I could never get their prices anywhere near their flight only and separate car hire prices so gave up on them. Worth checking.
However. Sometimes their Insurance when added on can be cheaper than a stand alone car hire. Hardly ever though My recommendation is don't bother collecting the car and check out prices as above namely a stand alone one Strangely Virgin do car hire and I lay money it will be cheaper than paying just for their Insurance. However the World is your oyster for cars and there are at least a dozen good 3rd party suppliers which we all use such as Auto Europe, Netflights, Andy who advertises on here, uscarhire, usrentacar, Alamo Brits. BA stand alone hire with Avis etc etc. Edit. Mick types fast!

Just to add to my earlier post and Tom's further suggestions.
I've never booked a Virgin package but I'm 99.99% certain that they use Alamo and I guess that you will be flying into either MCO or MIA. One of the big advantages of Alamo is the ability to check-in on line, get a bar code and avoid the terminal desks completely. You go straight to the garage and select your own car. All the brokers that Tom mentioned should allow you to do this. Alamo Sunpass scheme is also the best - only by a few dollars but worth it. After a tiring 9 hour flight it really is worth doing skip the counter. Mick

Would you believe that I get excited posting about car hire at the minute - this is only about the third or fourth time since March. I even check the Visitor Toll Pass site daily but it's still suspended. All to do with massive drop in domestic pax through MCO as well I guess. I might even be posting my pics of the first toll plaza on 417 soon. Mick

Agree with all above posts. However, due to soaring car hire prices by numerous 3rd parties including Alamo Brits it may be cheaper to pay for the insurance with Virgin.
Thought I would never write that! |

Op. What are your dates and what do Virgin want for the car size you want and added Insurance please.
Bear in mind their flydrives don't give a particularly decent sized car and invariably people pay to upgrade a class r two albeit what you have may be fine.

If you don't take the additional Insurance that Virgin sell you will be liable for all taxes and airport fees etc. Plus they probably wont let you take it as their asset is not covered.
However if you do pay for the Insurance then that's it, all covered. A stand alone hire also includes all taxes etc.

I usually do what Tom says and book the hire separately to the flight. Funnily enough though it was cheaper to add it on as a fly drive via a booking with Virgin Holidays for Christmas than it was to get flights and a
car anywhere booking with Virgin Atlantic.
