Congratulations. This will be me and my daughter next year. She’s just gone into her 5th year and is on her GP placement now then off to Eastbourne hospital next week. It’s a long slog, but lovely for them.

Congratulations to your son! Proud parent moment for sure!
 Well done to him! It really is a long old slog - we are just at the other end of it as parents this year - our son is in his first year as a medical student (Doctor of Medicine) and I am already super proud, so I'd be fit to burst if I were you right now!

Thank you everyone. Sure is a long slog.
3 year degree at Leicester Uni One year Masters at Oxford 2 years work experience as an Assistant Psychologist working full time - not compulsory but really not much chance to get the Doctorate place as this is paid for by the NHS and requires practical skills and experience as well as exam results. 3 year Doctorate study along with working placements in various hospitals - changing every 6 months for different experiences. He did this based at UCL and spent a lot of time at GOSH which he loved. I'll be honest, there's been times when he's looked like it was all too much but he kept going and showed so much dedication. During this time he's also got married and bought a house - definitely couldn't be more proud. His graduation isn't scheduled until Spring next year but hopefully it will go ahead by then. Good luck to those going through similar, either themselves or with their children. Jill |
