BA Fly drive Avis or Budget...

... is there any practical difference in which option I choose? Budget are slightly cheaper-aware they are the same company and seem to have the same toll policy, wondered if I was missing anything.

Never hired from either before so I'm not a premium customer so not sure if either gives me the option of skipping the hard sell-I mean counter

We’ve just come back. Used budget with no problem. Upgraded us to bigger car free. Didn’t try and charge extra insurance. We used the visitor eazi pass for tolls. Just got my bill $9.50. Car had gps too.

We used Budget in Canada, it was from an Avis desk in a downtown hotel in Quebec and we only needed it for a day. The two quotes from Avis and Budget from the same desk at the same time were vastly different, so we took the Budget car. It was dirty inside and scruffy outside, hadn't been cleaned following what looked like a fortnight's family holiday at the beach. We complained but were told take it or leave it as they had no other cars to choose from.

The car did the job for 24 hours, but we wouldn't have taken it for a 2 week road trip. I guess maybe Avis cars become Budget cars when they are a couple of years old.

As said same company and I've even been given a car parked in a budget bay when using AVIS.

The main difference I can see is that with Budget BA do not mention the free additional driver for BA exec members. I use this for my daughter (DW is covered regardless), so need to use AVIS not Budget when selecting the car. But that means BA is not really giving me a free additional driver because I need to pay more to get the AVIS car

Yup spotted that. It’s useful to have in case I can’t drive but in 2 road trips and I think 5 Florida holidays over the years Mrs Mickie has yet to rack up mile one. Still the extra £12 for “free” additional driver is worth it for emergencies.

Think i’ll tell her I can’t drive when we go to Miami!

Budget also allow spouse to drive for free, but not sure if you need to register them. With AVIS you do not. Not a big issue if you do need to show documents. SO you can save yourself 12.
