We're going in September so not school holidays, but it's working out at £850 return per adult, including luggage

You won’t get direct flight in and out within school holidays direct from Manchester for under £800. I’ve found Virgin going up the longer you wait, hitting 1200+ last year. I go every year.
Indirect (Air Canada have been cheaper recently) you can get them for 700 ish. Outside school holidays is a different ball game entirely.

Yes, September 2020

Our return flights are in September; they aren't in school holidays. Therefore they are cheaper. If you're looking at travelling completely within school holidays (i.e. return flights in August) then flight prices will be significantly more expensive, as YorkshireT says above. They certainly won't cost anything like the September 2018 prices, and wouldn't have done even if Thomas Cook were still around.

Because you'd said September 2018, I had assumed you were looking at September 2020 flights?

When exactly are you thinking of going?

I've just done a quick search on Skyscanner for 1st September returning 15th September. Direct flights with Virgin, booked direct with Virgin cost £563 per person. It's slightly cheaper if you book via a thirdparty. Adding luggage both ways will increase the cost by £100. So that's about £660 return per adult, including luggage.

If you're going at the weekend then I suspect it'll be a bit more expensive.

Thanks Nimbus.

Currently booked from 12-26th September.
Thinking of changing to 13th-25th as flights are much cheaper

I've been surprised (in a bad way) with Virgin's MAN prices too. Our dates are 26/9 to 12/10, and prices for economy classic (we need luggage) have been £730-900+... for September, that's just silly.

If we changed our dates to fly 27/9 instead (Sunday) it'd be a bit cheaper, but still over £600pp.

So maybe four in total?
I see that they have also acquired 7 A321s for nexr summer. Where are the additional A330 rumours coming from?

This recent article seems to show the destinations that the new Jet2 slotswill be allocated to ( I’ve checked the date too and brought myself up into 2019! )

Let’s hope that you are correct as we need more competition.

The BBC and other stories have assumed all the Manchester slots were sold. This may not be the case. The government statement said that TC airport slots at Gatwick had been sold, and that key airport slots at Manchester, Birmingham and Stansted had been sold.

From someone who writes a lot of corporate rubbish, key is the key here.

Fingers crossed.

Jet2 got all of them. If any where left we would know by now who got them. Jet2 were not the only one bidding for them.

TUI are offering complimentary coach transfers from Sanford for most hotels.

Are they complimentary? Last time we flew with them to Sanford you had to pay for the coach transfer. I think it was £30 per person, although that was several years ago.
