Yes - when I was working and living in Hong Kong
It was amazing - I was a vegetarian before I emend which helped on the food side (some meat eaters really struggled) but what has stayed with me (som 24 years later ) is meditation and how easy it is to zone out from the noise and chaos around me for a few minutes of me time - I really need to go back to one but then again I have been saying that for years ! Try it - nothing to loose but potentially a lot to gain |

Oh that’s a blow. Going overseas isn’t really an option and I rather hoped there might be something suitable closer to home

Maybe on an island - no phone signal, traffic and other distractions may work . It’s the total divorce of every thing familiar for a period of days that helps cleanse the soul and mind - meditation I found really hard at first and struggle a bit now but yes I chant and can zone out but my mind takes me back to Lantau (she. It was a small island and no airport ) - plus it was “free” just donation if you could afford it .
There is a Buddhist centre in Bethnal Green that may be able to help you ? When I lived in Hackney I used to go there sometimes |

Thank you I’ll take a look 👍 it sounds like you had a really amazing experience and I wish I could go to that part of the world to experience it but it’s just not practical

I would love to go to a monesry in Tibet.
I do follow the Buddhist religion and the life of Karma. A lot of people think I am a whacko or a free spirit. but to me... I only try to be kind and pure/live life for the moment each day and not conform to industrial/political pressure. Edited at 11:37 PM. |

I found this link on google for retreats regionally. There are some in Kent and East Sussex. I don't know if it has to be Buddhist specifically. This is a Christian retreat directory, so please ignore if not appropriate for you.
