Seems to have been a trouble free tournament in the main.. I'm sure small pockets of trouble but nothing like previous close to home tournaments

Obviously i wasnt there but looking from TV / afar the England fans seemed to be majority team shirt wearing lads out for a good laugh/watch the games rather than the 'football lads' or 'firms' you used to see roaming about / chucking plastic chairs

just my observation could be wrong

Do they still confiscate the passports of thousands of known troublemakers for the duration of overseas tournaments? When that was introduced it undoubtedly helped.

yes anyone with a football banning order had to hand in their passport , i believe this was in the region of 1600 fans from the UK. Similar number banned from Qatar World Cup also

Actually. That was correct, however small the quantity was and who was at fault. The day after that comment there was some trouble involving England fans which was reported in the usual way by the press (until the true perpetrators came to light).

However, what is correct is that thankfully the whole tournament was very much a trouble free tournament. Which is always a good thing. Was surprised (a little) as I was reading prior to the start that there were many hundreds of banning orders which had expired resulting in the possibility of known troublemakers making travel plans!

The England support was excellent. Despite the often poor quality performances on the pitch it was loud consistently. We have our share of idiots, like the ones who threw the plastic cups at Southgate, but the idiocy was pretty much confined to drinking too much and the, very occasional, inappropriate song. We had up to 50-60,000 fans out there and 66 arrests, largely for drunkenness.
My biggest surprise was the fact that although the Dutch fans come across as the greatest fun on social media with their dancing and singing, in Dortmund they were the most arrogant and aggressive.

Over the tournament 250,000 England fans travelled 73 arrests which included 13 for breaching banning orders and 8 new banning orders given out. One was arrested for be drunk in charge of an electric scooter.

Having a banning order does not always prevent travel just makes it a bit harder. Of the 1600 UK banning orders these are not all related to international football many will be league bans which by association will include international games. Many of these may be well over the top and for relatively minor offences.

Many of the recipients of banning orders are often found now supporting non league clubs

I don't think that was 250,000 unique visits. I think they were counting trips, which many supporters, myself included, made multiples of. I think at any one time there were up to 50,000-60,000 fans out there.
