Rectangular pizza stone for bbq
We don't eat pizza that often so I've ruled out buying an ooni or similar. We have an old great barrel type bbq. Has anyone had much luck using a pizza stone on the bbq? I'd need a rectangular shaped one to fit.

We have a Weber bbq and I fancied trying the pizza stone idea.. it cooked but very slowly. I just couldn’t seem to get the bbq up to a constant high enough heat.
So, we bought the Ooni fyra and tried it for the 1st time yesterday. Absolutely fabulous! Amazing pizza cooked in 60 seconds and so although we didn’t eat a lot of pizza, I think we will now! |

I did wonder if it took forever to cook. Went to my friends last night they have an ooni and they cooked pizza it was nice and cooked quickly but wasn't wood fired but gas. My kids both work in a well known pizza chain 🤣 so we don't have pizza loads but have access to a lot of unused dough at the end of the night 🤣

get some 5mm mild steel sheet cut to the size you need, just make sure theres a bit of a gap round the edge so you arent cutting off the oxygen supply to the coals
once the sheet it cut, scrub with brillo pads until clean, then season with cooking oil a few times, like you do with cast iron pans heres mine, i got a circular one cut for my kamado grill. i got 10mm thick, and its really heavy. if i were to buy it again, i would get half the thickness |
