Just to reassure you, the test at the port is a nasal swab only. If you are doing test LFTs at home in the run up to your cruise, you can again just use it as a nasal swab.

If done properly yes! (With all the normal caveats about Lateral Flow Test versus PCR. However, the test at the port is a LFT nasal swab and only in one nostril. Practice with the NHS kits which you can order through the NHS app and follow the instructions carefully so that you use the proper technique. It’s really easy to do after the first go. Hopefully this will make you both a little less anxious about the testing procedure.
