Travel questions
Booking for Sept 2022 for 21 nights onsite for disney and universal with tickets for £5600 for 2 adults and a child. I have a couple of questions if you can help please?
1. Does this sound a good deal for all stars and cabana bay? 2. Am I crazy for going with a 2 year old? 3. Is it safe to book with virgin holidays these days? 4. Do the prices drop a little once the offer for the 50th ends? Many Thanks |

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a good price from Virgin holidays, unless it’s last minute.
How many nights at each hotel? Is that with the 2 year old on your lap or their own seat on the plane? Flying with Virgin? From Heathrow to MCO? Edited at 01:21 AM. |

I would say that price is too expensive especially as your 2 year old wouldn’t need park tickets or a plane ticket so the price you’ve been given is really only for 2 adults. Pre COVID times I’ve never paid that much even in the the school summer holidays for 21 nights for 2 adults and a now 17 year old. I always book custom holidays with BA though, and they are always way cheaper then Virgin holidays. They have also been very reputable with their COVID refunds/vouchers etc and as a national airline I have more optimism about their future than some other companies. I know it’s always great to get something booked so you can look forward to a holiday but if you can wait for BA flights to be released at the end of September/ beginning of October I would recommend you wait and then book your own custom trip via the BA website.

I know people do, but personally I wouldn't want to travel with a babe on my lap for nine and a half hours. I find it uncomfortable for just me. If the person in front wanted or needed to recline their seat although you would hope they wouldn't, you are going to be very squashed.

Don't have kids so can't answer if it's worth it to take them when they're that young. But they are effectively free if on lap for the flights, so here are the prices for 2 adults...
All Stars for 2 weeks is around £2015 direct. 1 week in Cabana Bay is currently around £715 direct. UK tickets are £1470 for both parks (Disney direct, ATD pricing for Universal) That leaves about £1400 for flights, so £700pp which is on the high side for September as this is Orlando's low season. I wouldn't pay more than £500pp at that time of year, should be closer to £450. Hotel prices will vary depending on dates, but I picked the highest values at least for Disney. Could be up to £100 less for Disney if going on cheaper dates, which would increase the flight prices even further. I'm not sure on Universal's banding so just chose a random week in September (in Disney's highest rate band) as a ballpark figure. Disney hotel prices won't go down, they're set for the year. And the dining offer should be the best one you can get for All Stars, as the free nights offer that typically comes out next would save you up to £290 on the room (based on 2 nights free using the prices above) but you'd lose the £360 in dining credits. Universal hotel prices might go down but the savvy rate currently available for advance bookings is typically one of the best you can get. Edited at 11:21 AM. |
