The wire...an all time classic and has, imho, never ever been surpassed

Agree. Since first watching The Wire I really struggle with shows where everything is completed neat and tidy. The Wire showed the line between good and bad is narrow and often crossed by both sides

Me and DH LOVE The Wire. One of the best.

Just finished a rewatch of S3. Can’t wait to start S4 (our absolute fav)

I just love Lester so, so much.

watching the wire ruins you for tv shows afterwards. very little comes even close to its greatness.

for me, some of the only things that come close are breaking bad (and better call saul. probably even moreso with BCS), halt and catch fire, succession and a few others. i'm a few away from the end of BCS (until the new season) and then going back through BB so i can finally watch the movie... after that, it'll probably be the wire for the third time.

truly great TV, all of it

I think one of the versions was sung by the guy that played the rehabilitation counsellor.

Steve Earle - Walon.

His version of Tom Waits song Way Down In The Hole, is on his Washington Square Serenade album.
It's not on The Wire...And All The Pieces Matter, soundtrack album.

Very sad, shame he was on the drugs. Brilliant actor, I particularly liked his Boardwalk Empire character.
