I have to be honest I use the Dibb DVC Calculator and Points Chart more than the DVC one as it takes too long for that website to load

OK as everyone else has covered "renting" & you said "buy" I'll cover that:
The easy one is that if you want 11 month BLT priority then you buy there, you then have to decide how often you want to go? If it's every year & you need 204 points, then you are probably looking at a 200 point contract, you then borrow 4,8,12,16 ... until you need to miss a year. If you are going every 2 years then somewhere around 110/120 would do.
Worth noting that points are points though so you can buy a "cheaper" resort & still stay at BLT but you have to wait until 7 months to book.
You can buy Direct from Disney or Resale, as far as stays are concerned, points wise, they are treated exactly the same.

I'm just learning all this stuff is on Dibb. I've been on the forums for a while, but until Smax pointed it out, I didn't realise there was all the planning stuff. It's an excellent resource.
